The Zurich City Parliament begins its debate on the CHF 8 billion budget and grapples with approximately 300 proposed amendments. On the first day of the debate, Parliament cuts the budget by approximately CHF 11 million. This news report was produced at 2:00 a.m., after the first of four sessions. The goal was to make the otherwise dry subject matter and the eight-hour council debate understandable to the audience in a report of no more than two minutes – without boring them. The report was broadcast during the morning shows (6:32 a.m., 7:32 a.m., 8:15 a.m.) of the Zurich Schaffhausen regional news program.
