LET’S PLAY

Lionel Henriod

Christiane Nill (artistic director) and Lionel Henriod (photographer) decided to embark on a joint personal project whose central idea is to create a portrait of a creative and contemporary Switzerland. The initial impetus came when Christiane, her daughter, and some of her friends and family began constructing buildings made of wooden blocks. With the same selection of pieces, the result is certainly diametrically different for each person, but above all, it reflects the image of their creator. The idea for LET'S PLAY was born. What exactly is it? Swiss visual artists, architects, and designers are invited for a rather special portrait session that takes place in two stages. First, there is the studio portrait. The guest is placed under the spotlights, against a white background. Then, they have 30 minutes to create a construction that integrates three blocks imposed by the previous player. The construction is then photographed. These two images create a diptych. Ultimately, LET'S PLAY will bring together around a hundred Swiss visual artists, architects, and designers, representing both regional and generational diversity. Work in progress began in January 2012.
