"My criminal energy helped me not to be duped"

Karin Hofer

For a long time, Erich Vogel was the most powerful and controversial man in Swiss football. Even at 85, he is still fast, resilient, and eloquent. Vogel grew up as a butcher's son in Zurich and studied literature, sociology, and theater in Zurich and Paris. He joined Grasshoppers in 1952. He had a remarkable career as a footballer, coach, official, and, above all, as sporting director.
