In Lausanne, Roma face a dilemma: the law allows begging but not sleeping outside. Fined for this, they head to the suburbs at night to sleep in hiding. This marginalizes them and stresses them out with the fear that the police will confiscate their earnings. In one night, they can suddenly lose the earnings from 15 days of begging that they could have sent to their families, who live off that money back home.
