In the midst of the American presidential campaign, I wanted to take a small step back to tell the story of an American capital, both revered and hated. Donald Trump himself has constantly castigated the "swamp" of Washington, but he himself fuels it. For a Swiss reader, this description of Washington also sheds light on the federal structure of the United States.
