In a 44-minute special report, I explored how well Biel's much-praised bilingualism still functions. I visited the bilingual kindergarten, the mayor of Biel, spoke with the organizers of a Francophone film festival, the library director, the Biel City Council, and journalistic legend Mario Cortesi. I discussed with the Forum for Bilingualism, and finally attended a violin lesson where German-speaking and French-speaking children are taught together. The program was broadcast for the first time on SRF 4 News on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, with several repeats. Since SRF 4 News' broadcast formats normally do not exceed 25 minutes, and a news bulletin is broadcast every half hour, the report was split into two parts.
