Refugee shelter Salesianum, Hodan and Wardo are pleased that people are interested in them. Admittedly, they are somewhat shy, but aren't we all in a strange place? The old Salesianum was made available by its owner as temporary accommodation for refugees. The media were invited for a tour. I didn't want to just go and snoop around, so I spoke with them at length through their interpreter. Only then did I get pictures that show a great deal of positive joy in life from people who otherwise don't have much to laugh about.

In Zug, the old Salesianum was temporarily made available by its owner to refugees. The media were invited to view it. I spoke at length with the people portrayed (with an interpreter) before even taking a photograph. It was important to me to portray these people in a very close and dignified way.
