Being established is no guarantee of survival. Country inns in regions like the Emmental are being abandoned in droves. This isn't just because there's a lack of capital or buyers for the oversized, old buildings. Many innkeepers are missing the boat and failing to recognize changing needs. Structural adjustment is long overdue. Only those who reinvent their inns will survive.
